Santa Clara High School was established in 1901 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet with the goal of providing students with a Catholic education that informs, molds and transforms young men and women into well rounded adults through the teaching ministry of the Roman Catholic Church.
Santa Clara High School is a multi-ethnic co-educational institution serving students in grades 9 through 12 in the city of Oxnard and throughout the greater Ventura County with a college preparatory curriculum.
In partnership with parents who continue their role as primary educators, the school engages students in a program of academic, spiritual, social and physical learning experiences and activities aimed at developing well-balanced Christian young adults. Throughout our campus programs, we inspire our students to become spiritually active and academically sound; independent thinkers while naturally expressive; and, team players who are socially responsible in every facet of their lives now and in the future.
Dear Santa Clara Supporter,
Our vision of Catholic education is straightforward - we are "committed to balancing spiritual enrichment, academic excellence, physical development and social involvement for the students' personal growth." While we agree that classes, grades, discipline, and a host of other things go hand-in-hand with student development, above all, we exist to promote the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
By the time a student of Santa Clara High School graduates, he or she will have acquired the following lifelong skills: *Problem-Solving Skills- using a non-emotional, reasoned approach *Communication Skills - implementing both oral and written language, as well as non-verbal expression *Citizenship Skills - essential for living in a pluralistic society, and key to fulfilling religious and civic obligations
Here at Santa Clara, we have set up an educational framework in order for our school community to function on the highest order; some policies are to set clear boundaries and expectations for conduct, while others are meant to promote and reinforce Gospel values and Christian virtues. Most importantly, our goals are designed to promote safety and student welfare while building solid character development in our young men and women.
